Ryzen 7 5800X3D Spec and Price in Canada

AM48 cores / 16 threads

Released April 20, 2022 ·

The first desktop chip to ship with AMD's 3D V-Cache: eight cores and 16 threads with 96MB of L3 cache in a 105W TDP, boosting to 4.5GHz from a 3.4GHz base. That's three times the 32MB of L3 on a standard Ryzen 7 5800X, aimed squarely at cache-bound gaming workloads. No integrated graphics is fitted and no cooler is included, so budget for a discrete GPU and cooling separately.

61st of 65 models in the CPU catalog on Boost clock. Tied 12th of 65 models in the CPU catalog on L3 cache — 5 models share this figure.

What owners and reviewers say

Summarised from 2 source(s), reviewed September 13, 2026. A source is counted only where it names this model exactly. How we track prices

Commonly praised

  • Notable gaming gains that reach parity with the competing generation, on existing AM4 motherboards.
  • Very energy efficient, with a single-CCX design and no raised power limits versus the standard chip.
  • Owners report large gaming gains from the extra cache, especially in CPU-heavy titles, with less stutter.
  • It is repeatedly described as a drop-in upgrade for existing AM4 systems, needing no new motherboard or DDR5.
  • It runs cool and installs easily, with one owner praising a bundled thermal pad.

Commonly criticised

  • Runs at lower clocks than the standard chip and loses a little application performance.
  • Overclocking is not supported, it costs more than the standard chip, and there is no cooler or integrated graphics.
  • Owners consider it expensive for an older platform, and some note it has held near its launch price.
  • Availability and scalper pricing were concerns around release.
