Ryzen Threadripper 7970X Spec and Price in Canada

sTR532 cores / 64 threads

Released October 19, 2023 ·

A step up from the 7960X in core count: 32 Zen 4 cores and 64 threads share the same 128MB of L3 cache and 5.3GHz boost clock, at a slightly lower 4.0GHz base and the same 350W TDP. The extra eight cores over the 7960X cost $1,000 more at $2,499 boxed, with cache per core dropping as a result. Quad-channel DDR5-5200 and up to 48 PCIe 5.0 lanes carry over unchanged, and it ships unlocked without a bundled cooler for buyers who need more threads than the 7960X offers.

Tied 31st of 65 models in the CPU catalog on Boost clock — 8 models share this figure. Tied 4th of 65 models in the CPU catalog on L3 cache — 8 models share this figure.

What owners and reviewers say

Summarised from 1 source(s), reviewed September 14, 2026. A source is counted only where it names this model exactly. How we track prices

Commonly praised

  • Reviewers described the 32-core/64-thread part as delivering outstanding Linux performance across creator, developer and technical-computing workloads.
  • It carries 128MB of L3 cache, a 350W TDP, four DDR5 memory channels and up to 48 PCIe 5.0 lanes for HEDT use.
  • It combined that throughput with generational gains over the previous HEDT generation.

Commonly criticised

  • It sits on the four-channel TRX50 platform, which offers fewer memory channels and PCIe lanes than the PRO/WRX90 line.
