LaCie d2 Professional Spec and Price in Canada
The d2 Professional is LaCie's desktop pro drive: a 3.5-inch enterprise-class unit in a metal tower with USB-C and a five-year warranty including the rescue data-recovery service, per the LaCie data sheet. It is the drive content professionals buy for long-term archives — the enterprise drive inside (a Seagate IronWolf Pro), the metal enclosure, and the warranty program are the differentiators against consumer desktop externals at the same capacities.

What owners and reviewers say
Summarised from 2 source(s), reviewed September 13, 2026. A source is counted only where it names this model exactly. How we track prices
Commonly praised
- A premium aluminium enclosure with a near-silent cooling fan, which exceeded its rated transfer speeds in testing.
- Ships with an enterprise-class drive inside, supports several interfaces, and carries a five-year warranty with rescue service.
- Owners praise the build quality and finish, citing the metal case, the bundled cables and power supply, and the included documentation.
- Owners consider the large capacity good value against comparable pro-tier desktop drives.
- The five-year warranty is noted as a plus.
Commonly criticised
- Sequential write speed in one test fell well below its read speed.
- Performance is still bound by spinning-disk limits, and the premium build carries a premium price.
- Several owners find the bright blue activity light distracting and wish it could be dimmed or turned off, with one noting the flashing could trouble photosensitive users.
- Owners report the enclosure runs warm because it has no internal fan.
- Owners describe the drive dropping off or failing to wake from sleep, and suggest using it for backups rather than working from it directly.
