Seagate SkyHawk AI Spec and Price in Canada

SATA16TB7200 RPM

SkyHawk AI is Seagate's top surveillance drive, rated for the read-heavy pattern of AI video analytics on top of recording: 7200rpm, a 256MB cache, a 550TB/year workload rating, and a five-year warranty, per the Seagate data sheet. The extra workload headroom over the base SkyHawk (180TB/year) is the whole product: camera arrays doing continuous recording plus analytics reads wear a surveillance drive twice as fast. The price gap to the base line is the endurance being bought.

What owners and reviewers say

Summarised from 2 source(s), reviewed September 13, 2026. A source is counted only where it names this model exactly. How we track prices

Commonly praised

  • Reviewers position it for video-surveillance and AI edge deployments, with firmware aimed at zero dropped frames under heavy multi-stream load.
  • It has a high workload rating and mean time between failures, plus a five-year warranty with data-recovery service.
  • Owners deploying them in surveillance systems report they work reliably with network recorders.

Commonly criticised

  • It is slower than the enterprise and NAS-optimised drives in random workloads.
  • Owners warn they run louder than typical NAS drives, and some report units arriving used or damaged.
