The 990 EVO is Samsung's value PCIe 4.0 entry, released June 2024: 5,000/4,200 MB/s sequential on a DRAM-less Piccolo controller with Host Memory Buffer, per the product page and database entries. It carries dual PCIe 4.0 x4 / 5.0 x2 support — the 5.0 lane mode is what lets it hit the same numbers as the PCIe 4.0-only parts at the same price point. Random IOPS settle at 680K read / 800K write, below the DRAM-backed 990 Pro, matching its everyday-computing positioning. Endurance is 600TB for the 1TB grade with a five-year warranty.
