Ryzen 9 9950X Spec and Price in Spain

AM516 cores / 32 threads

Released August 15, 2024 ·

AMD's flagship non-3D part on AM5: sixteen Zen 5 cores and 32 threads boost up to 5.7GHz inside a 170W TDP, the same core count and clock ceiling as the 9950X3D but with 64MB of L3 cache instead of 128MB. That trade favors heavy multi-core work like rendering and compilation over the cache-bound gaming loads the X3D chips target. Unlocked and sold without a cooler, it expects a serious air or liquid cooler behind it.

Tied 5th of 65 models in the CPU catalog on Boost clock — 5 models share this figure. Tied 17th of 65 models in the CPU catalog on L3 cache — 7 models share this figure.

What owners and reviewers say

Summarised from 2 source(s), reviewed September 13, 2026. A source is counted only where it names this model exactly. How we track prices

Commonly praised

  • Called the fastest desktop processor for productivity, and a better all-round chip than the competing flagship.
  • Runs cooler and draws slightly less power than the rival, with uniform cores that keep software scheduling simple.
  • Owners emphasise efficiency, reporting lower power draw and cooler, quieter operation than the parts it replaces.
  • Multi-threaded and productivity work is described as very fast, with everyday tasks handled easily.
  • Dropping it into an existing AM5 board with a BIOS update is repeatedly described as simple and reliable.

Commonly criticised

  • Improvements over the prior generation are only marginal.
  • Platform-level power draw is on the high side, and gamers are told to wait for the stacked-cache parts.
  • Gaming gains over the previous generation are described as modest, and several owners find it trails the 3D V-Cache chips in games.
  • Owners say getting the best out of it takes manual tuning of core offset and memory profiles.
