AMD's Zen 5 refresh of the 7960X at the same $1,499 price and core count: 24 cores and 48 threads reach a 5.4GHz boost, 100MHz above the prior generation, from the same 4.2GHz base and 128MB of L3 cache. The platform gains more than the CPU does — quad-channel memory support rises to DDR5-6400 from DDR5-5200, and available PCIe 5.0 lanes climb to up to 80 from 48. Still unlocked and sold without a cooler, it's the entry point into the Threadripper 9000 Series lineup.
