Core i5-14400 Spec and Price in the United Kingdom

LGA170010 cores / 16 threads

Released January 8, 2024 ·

Intel's non-K entry point into 14th Gen: ten cores split six Performance and four Efficient reach a 4.7GHz boost from a 2.5GHz P-core base, with 20MB of L3 cache and Intel UHD Graphics 730 built in — a smaller iGPU than the 770 used on the K-series parts above it. A 65W base power and 148W maximum turbo power keep cooling modest, and memory support tops out at DDR5-4800 rather than the 5600 the higher-tier chips reach. At $231 boxed, it undercuts every K/KF part in this 14th Gen batch by more than $70.

Tied 53rd of 65 models in the CPU catalog on Boost clock — 3 models share this figure. Tied 57th of 65 models in the CPU catalog on L3 cache — 4 models share this figure.

What owners and reviewers say

Summarised from 2 source(s), reviewed September 14, 2026. A source is counted only where it names this model exactly. How we track prices

Commonly praised

  • Reviewers describe its performance as balanced between gaming and applications, with memory overclocking support and an adequate bundled cooler.
  • Owners describe it as good value that should serve a build for years.
  • It drops into existing LGA 1700 boards without other changes, which owners repeatedly single out as a benefit.
  • It is reported to run cool and power-efficient for gaming and content creation, with modest gains over the previous generation.

Commonly criticised

  • Its frequency bump over the 13400 yields no meaningful real-world gain while raising power use, and the CPU cores cannot be overclocked.
  • Cheaper Ryzen alternatives and Intel's own discounted previous-gen parts undercut its value at its asking price.
